TTR technology by CFB is based on the integration of advanced microfibres and High Performance trilaminate materials, developed to exceed the requirements of the EN 13795 standard and fully comply with EU Regulation 2017/745. This combination provides a high level of protection and safety in the operating room through a zero-particle-shedding fabric that is resistant to the penetration of fluids, bacteria and viruses, while carbon fibres with antistatic properties help control electrostatic charges. At the same time, TTR technology ensures lightweightness, breathability and comfort, providing a 100% waterproof barrier against liquids and contaminants, together with superior mechanical performance in terms of tensile, burst and tear resistance. The optimisation of volatile fibres and the fabric’s absorption capacity enable effective fluid management, while high water-vapour permeability and excellent adherence to surgical surfaces complete a system designed to deliver maximum performance, reliability and protection during surgical procedures.
If all surgical procedures performed in Italy each year were carried out using TTR operating room solutions, this would result in several environmental and social sustainability benefits.
The barrier effect is the result of an optimal balance between impermeability and comfort, available at different protection levels to meet the varying degrees of biological risk present in the operating room. In full-protection gowns, the front panel and sleeves are entirely made of a high-barrier fabric, providing maximum protection in the areas most exposed to contamination. The adjustable waist tie, featuring a dedicated tab, allows for practical and comfortable adjustment without the risk of contamination, while the specially designed raglan sleeves ensure an excellent fit and freedom of movement. The gown’s wrap-around design, combined with its easy fastening and opening, provides a high level of protection without compromising ergonomics and comfort during use.
The use of TTR products enables a significant reduction in indirect management costs, thanks to reduced administrative, storage and handling activities, as well as the involvement of a single specialised partner capable of ensuring high quality standards and economies of scale. It also generates economic benefits at national level, as approximately 80% of the value added generated across the supply chain remains in Italy, contributing to GDP while reducing the costs associated with the management and disposal of the products. From a social and environmental perspective, the reusability of TTR products significantly reduces waste generation — by approximately 300,000 kg — and, at the end of their lifecycle, the products can be disposed of as industrial waste comparable to municipal waste, thanks to the quality controls carried out following the sanitisation process.
